Download speed from Steam and other platforms is poor

Cloud based services like Steam or Ookla's speed test use your device's IP to figure out what's the closest end point to you. Steam, for example, uses your IP to determine the game download server to connect you to.

US-based IPs

Some of our cloud PCs currently suffer from a known bug, in which the PC's IP is identified as a US based IP address, despite the device being physically located in a London database. When that happens, Steam and other services treat these PCs as US-based devices - which might cause reduced download speeds.

An Easy Fix

Don't worry though, this issue has an easy fix!

Simply open Steam preferences, and choose a manual download server - your best choice is the London download server.

We're also hard at work to resolve this IP issue with our servers provider and hope to have a native solution to this issue soon.
